BCP Work Update July 11, 2025

Those who have been following this humble work may remember that I am a union carpenter who desires to use my talents to improve my city. Since this organization was founded, I have worked for several different companies in various industries to provide for my family. This means I have been unable to give my full attention to this work, but I have not abandoned this work.

On July 8th, 2025, I was laid off from my full time job. Such is the nature of construction, but this layoff provides me with more availability for BCP and I have been in the garden each day since the layoff.

Over the past few months, this work has suffered many hardships and setbacks such as:

  • I was not accepted as fellow with Echoing Green foundation. This would have provided $100,000 in funding which would have allowed me to work for BCP full-time.
  • In March, the Chesapeake Bay Trust denied our request for funding. Our proposal was for funds to purchase native fruit-bearing shrubs to landscape our Adullam West garden. The goal was to use these shrubs as hedges to deter theft and provide food.
  • At the end of April, I lost a job funded by the National Science Foundation due to the Trump Administration’s change in funding policy. This income coupled with my union income was being used to fund the Adullam West garden.
  • We have had several materials stolen from Adullam West such as fencing, lumber, compost, seedlings, etc.

Despite these events, the work continues and I will continue to dedicate my time to improve Baltimore. Special thanks to my children for being the backbone of this work and volunteering their labor to bless our neighbors.

Below are a few videos chronicling recent events. Thank you for your time and God bless!.
