October 2024 Update

First, I want to thank all our supporters for sharing our links, posts, and pictures. This year was an awesome beginning to our journey. We have met some awesome neighbors and made some great partners. We have been truly blessed to meet such wonderful supporters who have donated seeds and labor to our first garden project known as Adullam West.

As of October 14, 2024, Adullam West has been temporarily shut down. We have some upcoming projects that we are raising money for and have decided it was prudent to close the garden to prioritize our fundraising efforts. The major project we are fundraising for is a fence to protect what we grow for our neighbors. Unfortunately, we lost a significant amount of produce to wildlife in the neighborhood such as raccoons and possibly deer. Having proper fencing will greatly reduce the impact of local wildlife on the garden.

Despite this challenge, we were successfully able to harvest butternut squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe, radish, kale, swiss chard, yellow squash, arugula, tomatoes, carrots, corn, and a variety of lettuces. It was our pleasure to share our harvest with our neighbors. We also donated over a dozen butternut squash to the Village Learning Project at the Liberty Recreation Center.

Pictures of some of the harvests can be found on our Instagram page  @bmorecarpenters

We are currently in the process of renewing our adoption of the lots for the garden. We are also planning to adopt additional lots to expand this garden. We are hoping to use the additional space to grow another variety of squash, corn, and beans using the Three Sisters method.

Again, we want to thank all our supporters. In the upcoming months, we will begin planning for the next growing season. If you are interested in learning, helping, or being a part of our garden network, please contact us over the Winter so that we can work out a plan to collaborate in the Spring.
