Below is the Baltimore Carpenters’ Project April Update. Special thanks to those who have donated or shared the link to our fundraiser page!!! We are excited to do this work and we hope to inspire more people to become actively involved in making their communities a better place for their families and neighbors!
- In the month of March, we raised $1280 from individual donations. This represents 6.4% of our current goal. A $200 check was donated in person and is not represented on our GoFundMe Page.
- As of March 31st, 2023, the Baltimore Carpenters’ Project is recognized as a legal entity in the state of Maryland.
- In March, we established an interim Board of Directors to guide the organization in carrying out its goals.
- A portion of the donated funds were used to purchase door hanger flyers to further our fundraising efforts.
Below are our next steps in no particular order:
- Draft the organization’s governance documents known as bylaws.
- Draft an operational budget.
- Convene the first meeting of our Board of Directors.
- Board members edit/amend bylaws and operational budget, then approve the documents.
- Submit 501(3) application to the IRS.
- Canvass Baltimore neighborhoods using the door hangers to solicit additional donations.
Again, we would like to thank those who have supported us thus far. There is much more to do; however, the logistical work must be done to legally operate as a nonprofit entity. We will continue to update and chronicle the work as things progress.
